The Kukui ("coo coo ee") nut is harvested from the official Hawaiian state tree. The shell is then hollowed, dried, polished, painted and strung together into a necklace. Once worn by reigning Hawaiian chiefs, these kukui leis are now worn by all as a symbol of good luck. "Only real Dartmouth Fans go nuts!"
